Triniboi Joocie
TRINIBOI JOOCIE, also known as Rodell Sorzano, is an up and coming UK Soca artist, songwriter, musician and producer, known for his energetic and vibrant performances.
CARNIVAL!
His versatility has led to him performing at a wide variety of high profile venues and events, both internationally and across the UK, including the Crystal Clear Future's Got Skillz Talent Competition, Leicester Carnival, Manchester Carnival, Bristol Carnival, London's Notting Hill Carnival, Poetry in Motion (Embankment), and The O2 Arena (Leicester).
HEADLINE ACT.
He was a headline act at the award winning Soca fete, Soca Frenzy at the Scala in Kings Cross (London), and at the Labour Day Carnival (New York). In the 2010 UK Soca Monarch competition, he placed second with his single "Big Ting Dat".
TRINIDAD MUSICBorn and raised in Port of Spain, Trinidad, Triniboi Joocie experienced all the diversity of the islands culture and tradition, to which music is centrally important. It was in Trinidad that his passion for music began, and was nurtured by his involvement with the Steelpan bands. He was fascinated by the relationship between melody and phrasing.
EBONY STEEL BAND
His first major break came in 1998, when he performed with Wayne Rodriguez at a concert in Tobago. This gained him the opportunity to come to London and play with one of the UK’s best known steel bands, the Ebony Steel Band. While with this band, he's competed in Sky TV's competition Must Be The Music, and performed at several venues around the world, including Cannes, France.
'EASY FAME'
During the early months of 2006, TB Joocie crept into the scene, with his first track Easy Fame, a track known and loved locally for its complex yet positive lyrics, preparing the industry for the unique Triniboi Joocie style. Working with artists such as Olatunji Yearwood and others, TB Joocie started to develop an authentic, witty and sharp musical approach, creating a slick image for himself, which further contributed to his success.
SEASON BEST
In 2009, he became still more established with his second track It’s Time, recorded with Iron Fist Productions. It was his first to be professionally recorded and was performed alongside his follow up track Beast In Me (produced by Meshek Lockhart Munroe of Shek Productions) which he released during the summer of 2009. Beast In Me was played globally, and became season best for 2009/2010, setting TB Joocie apart from other UK Soca artists
FIRST ALBUM SUCCESS
This motivated TB Joocie to continue to work hard and produce more tracks, and he created his first album, Within De Soca Mix, which was released in July 2010. The album blends upbeat Soca with more accessible groovy tracks, to appeal to all. The album was a huge success during the 2010 carnival season.
MORE THAN ONE DREAM
But music is not the only dream TB Joocie is chasing. In 2008 he was awarded a Performing Arts Scholarship to study at Leicester's well known De Montfort University.
BRIGHT FUTURE
Triniboi’s future looks bright. His ambition for his music is for it to be internationally recognised, both within and beyond the Soca scene, and this spurs him on to strive for excellence. He also intends to raise awareness of Soca throughout Europe, and to bring it back to his homeland of Trinidad.
OGEEED!
With these aims in mind, he has already started work on his next album, set for release in 2011. Watch this space! In the words of Triniboi Joocie himself... OGEEED!
